Pregnancy Time Capsule
Updated: Apr 16
Allie here. I feel like I'm in high school again cramming to meet my due date!
Between chasing a toddler, quality time with friends and family, and a busy work season, this second pregnancy has flown by. As I write this, I am 32 weeks along... long overdue for a recap of the past few months.

Good News
I knew I was pregnant a few days before I peed on a stick. I asked myself why I felt so tired and weirdly nauseous and had a hunch.
Alas, the exhaustion and nausea didn't let up after confirming the reason why. My first trimester was a lot harder this go around, but it was made much more fun by the quality time we spent with family in those first few weeks.

We about burst to tell Nana and Pawpawp within a day or two of finding out. Lucky for us, we also had a trip to visit my family in Texas on the books and got to tell Mammy and Pappy in person too. Did I puke on the plane? Maybe.

Come Thanksgiving, we were rounding the final corner of the first trimester and feeling much better. Aunt Jessie got Ev this sweet shirt for the occasion.
So you can imagine our DELIGHT when Hamish, Everett's cousin, showed up to Thanksgiving dinner twinning!

Get this: Jess is also expecting a boy! These four Alaskan born dudes are going to rock our world.
Experiencing the journey of motherhood a second time alongside Jess is a treasure I'll cherish for the rest of our lives. "Grateful" doesn't cut even it.
Second Trimester
What happened in the second trimester? Holidays, wintertime, hobbies, what else? IDK. It was a blur.

At some point, we made it out to Colorado to visit my parents and had a wonderful wintertime trip. I didn't puke on the plane this time.
Third Trimester
I've been nesting, but not in ways Baby will care about at all. We upgraded the bookshelves in our basement and finally got on the books to replace the rotten back deck we tore out of the backyard when we bought our house in 2019.

I've been dreaming of summertime maternity leave, with grandiose ideas of spending the quiet times lounging with baby on our new deck or wandering through our backyard cottage garden.
Now, I'm realizing that means I have a season's worth of gardening to do in May, during the same window when I've procrastinated setting up the bassinet, washing baby clothes, and prepping a hospital bag.
So, there's lots to be done in the weeks ahead. Wish us luck!
